Michaels quit asking for my email!!!! First-I don't want to say it so everyone in line hears my email address or phone number.

They don't need it - it's no one else's business. Second-I have provided Michaels with my email address and signed up for the awards program and have yet to receive anything more than what I can get from the app on my phone.

Third-I don't have time to spend waiting in line while cashiers ask everyone. Figure out a different system and quit penalizes cashiers.

Because of the slow and intrusive check outs - I go to Hobby Lobby or shop online.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Michaels Cons: Asking for personal information.

Location: Elk Grove Village, Illinois

Iโ€™m sure the cashiers are obligated to ask everyone for their rewards/emails. Just politely say no, move on, and quit being a crybaby about it.

Being an employee of Michael's,there are things we have to say and do in our job, asking for emails is one of them, not one cashier loves having to do that but we have to if we want to keep our job,so it'd sure be nice if customers would understand that and not yell or scream at us for doing what is told to us to do,second,do you like being kept aware of what is going on in the store and online?Do you like receiving special coupons in the mail or get them on your phone to use to lower the price of your purchases? We cashiers are doing basically PR work for Michael's for those who do not take the time to go onto the website and read the coupons there! But if you don't want 70%percent off of one regular price item as a REWARDS MEMBER while others get only the 40 or 50% off one regular price item,POLITELY decline us,we won't feel bad while you pay full price for items but no cashier wants to be yelled, screamed at for just trying to save you some money on your purchases!

If you're on the rewards program, why not just bring up your digital rewards card on the website or app? The barcode loads above the coupons and just gets scanned without announcing your info.

Can you not just politely decline and go about your day? That's what I do.

I agree with you. I don't want to be asked for that information and I don't want the line to be slowed up because others are being asked.

Asking for your phone number or email is to benefit you. Now with the new rewards program you can give the cashier your phone number or email so you can now do receipt free returns.

People kept complaining about how they couldn't get full price back with no receipt.

Also if you followed the instructions you receive in your email and complete the sign up process your given an online rewards card which the cashier scans instead of you having to give your phone number or email each time. Get over it ***.

The simple solution to that is to keep your receipt. I have all of mine.
